Stage I

The Committee, composed of Szymon Adamczak, Małgorzata Bakalarz-Duverger, Anna Galas-Kosil, and Magdalena Komornicka, would like to thank all the applicants for their submissions and materials. The reading and evaluation process was crucial and inspiring for us.

We received 97 submissions, 78 by the deadline in the Terms and Conditions (i.e., by 20 March 2023, 10:00 a.m.); 19 submissions were received late (by midnight on the deadline date). At its first meeting, the Committee, acting based on section 8.2. of the open call’s Terms and Conditions, decided to review all applications.

After due consideration, the Committee determined that, due to the large number of applications received, 12 concepts (rather than 10, as initially set forth in the Terms and Conditions; the decision was taken in accordance with clause 8.2.) would proceed to the second stage of the selection process. These 12 individuals or collectives will be invited for an interview:

  • The collective consisting of Ewa Borysiewicz, Kate Zazenski, Vera Zalutskaya,
  • The duo Ramona Nagabczyńska, Renata Piotrowska-Auffret,
  • Patrycja Drzazga,
  • Agnieszka Glinska,
  • Veronika Ivashkevich,
  • Julia Krupa,
  • Magdalena Marchinkowska,
  • Małgorzata Minchberg,
  • Marta Seredyńska,
  • Asia Tsisar,
  • Veronika Zalewska, Katie Zazenski.

Those invited to the next stage will be contacted individually. Interviews will take place via the Zoom platform.

As set out in the residency, we wanted the artistic and research processes to be at the heart of the proposals invited to the next stage. We made the selection as diverse and fair as possible in terms of age, culture, and ethnicity so that a multitude of media and disciplines are represented.

Many interesting artistic and research people with worthwhile ideas applied., However, many of the ideas were project-based and focused on creating works which is different from the purpose of this programme. Many applications dealt with important topics, such as professional burnout, care policies, mental health, or migration experience.

WOK would like to support artistic and research development in these areas, so we will be looking for different formulas to make this possible – thus allowing us to stay in touch with you.
