I am a sociologist and cultural studies scholar with a PhD in humanities. I specialise in socio-cultural aspects of new technologies, data activism, and research methods. I am also a senior fellow at Humanity in Action, where I worked on a project related to data literacy and data activism. In 2022, I published a book entitled Technologie, które wykluczają. Pomiar, dane, algorytmy [Technologies that Exclude. Measurement, Data, Algorithms] in which I examine the sources of bias in new technologies and offer solutions to overcome them. Additionally, I am an assistant professor at the Department of Culture and Media at the SWPS University in Warsaw and a member of the Polish Sociological Association.

What does it take to be a data activist?
The European Commission points to the digital transformation as one of the driving forces of change in the European workplace. The growing amount of data, its use in various industries and positions, the development of work on artificial intelligence and its potentially disruptive nature for the labour market make data analysis skills increasingly important.
