Poczucie, że żyjemy w wyjątkowym momencie historycznym, towarzyszy nam w debacie publicznej w zasadzie od przełomu wieków. „Transformacja”, „przełom”, „zmiana”, „nowość” – wyczerpujemy słownictwo pozwalające opisać te procesy i denominujemy definicje teraźniejszości („nowe technologie” zastąpiliśmy „technologiami przełomu” etc.).

Badałyśmy, sieciowałyśmy i prototypowałyśmy rozwiązania dla kultury w Warszawie – od uczestnictwa mieszkanek i mieszkańców, przez edukację i diasporę, po warunki pracy artystycznej. Rok 2025 to pierwsze wymierne efekty długofalowych badań, pilotaży i współpracy ze środowiskiem, których rezultaty będziemy rozwijać w 2026 roku.

The Warsaw Observatory of Culture (WOK) is celebrating its second anniversary! As we embark on the next chapter of our operation, we want to take this opportunity to share with you memories, reflections and experiences from the past 365 days.

One year has passed. During this time, we have achieved a great deal, but there have also been many surprises along the way. For us, it has been a period of formation and defining the identity of our institution. The most important experience for us thus far has been change. We understand it both as the dynamics of a contemporary, uncertain world and as the condition of a cultural institution that aims to break down established patterns of thought and attitude. That is why experimentation is embedded in our DNA.
