The guest speakers invited to a panel discussion about the international governance management practices for institutions of culture in the context of contemporary social and political challenges were as follows: Bart de Baere, long-time Director of the M HKA, or the Contemporary Art Museum in Antwerp, chairman of the Museum Watch programme and co-author of the “Governance Management Project”, and Dr Aleksandra Janus, Director of the Centrum Cyfrowe, researcher and curator of cultural projects, co-author of the Museum Laboratory project. The discussion was moderated by Olga Brzezińska, a culture manager, lecturer at the University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University and the Theatre Academy, the president of the Miasto Literatury Foundation, and Programme Director of the Leadership Academy for Poland.

We discussed strategies to protect institutions from the disastrous impact of chaotic political decisions. We wondered how to build and develop teams while being attentive to the people who work at these institutions. We identified the most interesting practices that can be applied to support organisations and institutions in dealing with crises that threaten the achievement of their goals and hinder their development.

The meeting was held at WOK on 23 March at 6 pm.
