Alyaksandar Valodzin

Alyaksandar Valodzin is a documentary filmmaker who studied at the Abdel Nasser International University in Libya, where he majored in Arabic. He’s traveled to the Tuaregs in the desert, where he’s collected a Tamashok-Russian dictionary as well as Tuareg children’s fairy tales. Also, he’s worked as an Arabic interpreter at the UN Refugee Center in Belarus. He was the co-owner and director of the vegan fast-food restaurant “MonkeyFood”. After 2020, he was forced to close down the cafe and, under the threat of persecution, leave for Poland. He is the author of the educational project and YouTube channel “View from the Street”. Alexander started taking photos by accident less than a year ago, and this is a kind of conversation with his past. Almost all of the author’s photos are from the streets of Warsaw and Lodz with random people he meets on the street or with his friends whom he had known before 2020 in Minsk and met again in Poland a few years later.
