Jaŭhien Atcecki
I am the manager of the FSH1 project, lecturer, civic journalist, and photographer. I was born in Minsk, Belarus, and in 2021, for political reasons, I moved to Ukraine. My passion for photography led me to work as a photography teacher at Studio67 from 2009 to 2016. At FSH1, my primary focus is running events that aim to unite and shape the Belarusian photography community. Additionally, I organise the fotofest.by microfestivals in Minsk, where photographers can come together, share their work, and exchange ideas. I’ve also organised open-air workshops and photography trips, providing aspiring photographers with valuable learning experiences in immersive settings.
As a photographer, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with renowned organisations such as UNDP, UNICEF and the Red Cross. My work has been featured in prestigious magazines like “Sapiens”, “TIMER”, “The New York Times”, “Belsat”, “Nowa Gazeta”, and “Decoder”. I participated in numerous exhibitions in Belarus and abroad, showcasing my unique perspective through my lens. One of my notable projects is “The Square of Changes”. This project holds personal significance to me as it encapsulates the transformative power of collective action and societal shifts. In 2020, I was awarded the Best Documentary Project in the Belarusian project photography competition, Prafota.
