Sebastian Świąder

I am a theatre educator, cultural animator, musician, and performer. I graduated from Cultural Studies at the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw (specialisation: cultural animation). I am a member of the Association of Theatre Pedagogues where I initiate and co-create many projects (among others in cooperation with the Theatre Institute, TR Warszawa, Dramatyczny Theatre in Wałbrzych, Pinokio Theatre in Łódź, and BAJ Theatre in Warsaw). I cooperate with Theatre 21 and the Theatre Węgajty where I participate in a field project. Since 2020, I have been working in the education department of the Halina and Jan Machulski Ochota Theatre in Warsaw. I design and run theatre, music and performance workshops.

I am a composer and performer of music for theatrical performances and my past work includes, among others: Enemy. Manual (dir. J. Sobczyk, Zagłębie Theatre, 2018), Trolls (dir. J. Sobczyk, Theatre 21, 2019), Arians (dir. Beniamin Bukowski, National Stary Theatre in Kraków, 2021), Up (dir. A. Rubczak, Zdrojowy Animation Theatre in Jelenia Góra, 2022), Kingdom (dir. J. Sobczyk, Guliwer Theatre in Warsaw, 2022), and Instincts (dir. A. Rubczak, Polish Dance Theatre in Poznań, 2022).

I produce performances and events bordering on performance arts and theatre such as In the Circle (BAJ Theatre, 2016), Home (BAJ Theatre, 2017), Hanukkah (Theatre 21, 2017). I collaborate with theatre directors in the capacity as a theatre pedagogue e.g. Map and Territory (dir. E. Marciniak, Teatr Wybrzeże 2016), The Thing Is (dir. A. Morawska-Rubczak, Kochanowski Theatrein Opole, 2018), 27 December (dir. J. Skrzywanek, Polski Theatre in Poznań, 2018), Przemiany (dir. M. Borczuch, Studio Theatre in Warsaw, 2021).

In 2015, I received a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. I also received an award at the 26th National Competition for the Staging of a Polish Contemporary Play for my music for the play Mazagan. The City (directed by J. Berłowska, Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń, 2019).

I am a member of the music bands UGLA and Bardzo Duży Dom. Between 2007 and 2018, together with a group of friends, I ran the experimental collective Performeria Warszawy.
