A catalogue of best practices

Graphic designer Alicja Kobza and communication strategist Agnieszka Tiutiunik met at the WOK Lab and talked about their experiences. What do you need to think about when creating a visual identity? What is the process like? What to do and what not to do for a successful collaboration?

In partnership with Alicja, we created a catalogue of best practices for organisations working with visual identity designers. It includes guidelines such as openness, willingness to dialogue, clear terms and conditions, transparency of communication, inviting the designer to be part of the team, respect for work and leisure time, acceptance of process work and constant review of what is needed. We have both reflected on the process of designing an institution’s visual identity, including the role of chance in creative work, because sometimes what happens in the course of creative work is completely unintentional, but it can serve as a starting point for the idea underlying the whole concept.
