Mary Ann DeVlieg

Since 2010, I have worked as a case worker for persecuted artists. I am a co-founder of IARA (International Arts Rights Advisors) and founded the EU working group, Arts-Rights-Justice. From 2013 to 2015, I served as freeDimensional’s Director of Strategic Development, and I am also a co-founder of the Arts-Rights-Justice Academy at the University of Hildesheim.
I evaluate and advise international cultural collaboration projects, policies, and programs for the European Commission’s culture, research, and international development initiatives, as well as for arts councils and private foundations. Previously, I was the Secretary General of IETM (1994-2013), the international network for contemporary performing arts. I also co-founded www.on-the-move.org and the Roberto Cimetta Fund for Mobility in the Mediterranean.
Currently, I serve as a board member of Ettijahat – Independent Culture, and since 2013, I have been curating and advising the annual Malmö Safe Havens conference for artists, activists, and policymakers.
